Question

Is it harmful for children to drink a lot of yogurt?

Answer

Yogurt is similar in composition to raw milk, but its acidity is increased, the curd is finer, which aids in digestion and absorption, and can stimulate the secretion of gastric acid. The lactose in milk has been fermented into lactic acid, so it does not cause abdominal pain or diarrhea in lactose intolerant individuals, making it particularly suitable for infants with weak digestion or diarrhea. There are various types of yogurt on the market:

  • A Full-fat Yogurt: Mainly made from whole milk, with a fat content of about 3%, it is the yogurt product with the highest nutritional value.
  • B Low-fat Yogurt: Mainly made from skimmed milk, with a fat content of 0.5% to 1%, a good choice for women looking to lose weight.
  • C Fruit Yogurt: Made from fresh fruit pieces and skimmed milk, with a fat content of 2% to 3%, containing more sugar but with a delicious taste. Although yogurt has certain health benefits, excessive consumption is not easily absorbed. It is recommended to drink it in small amounts, with children aged 2 and a half being advised to consume 500 to 1000 milliliters per day.
