Question

What are the differences in reactions to foreign objects in a child’s eyes, and what should I do if I can’t find one?

Answer

If tears cannot dislodge the foreign object, you can prepare a basin of clean, fresh water. Gently close your eyes, submerge your face in the basin, and blink a few times in the water; this will help to flush out the foreign object from the eye. Alternatively, you can have someone hold open the affected eye and use a syringe filled with cold tap water or saline solution to rinse the eye, or use a cup to rinse the eye.
