Question
My child has mycoplasma infection, weighing 18 kg, and has been given 1.5 bottles of Erythromycin (30,000 units per bottle). I have consulted two doctors; one said we still need to take azithromycin orally, while the other said we don’t need to take oral medication. I’m not sure what to do? When should the oral medication be taken, and how much time should it be apart from the IV? Do I have to inject it for half a month? Thank you.
Answer
Hello, based on your child’s condition, there is no need to take azithromycin orally. Azithromycin and erythromycin are both in the same class of drugs.
