Question

Why do little babies always drool? Are there any methods to reduce the amount of drooling?

Answer

Drooling in babies is a normal physiological phenomenon. Usually, after four months of age when babies start eating solid foods like rice porridge, due to increased saliva production and incomplete development of the oral swallowing function, they tend to drool more easily. Additionally, teething can stimulate saliva production, leading to an increase in drool. As babies grow older and their swallowing function matures, the amount of drooling will naturally improve. There is no special method to completely avoid baby drooling, but you can use bibs or neck protectors to reduce the wetting of clothing and maintain cleanliness around the baby’s mouth to prevent skin issues.
