Question
Dear Experts: Hello! When I was buying the Lebi Growth Milk (a type containing lactic acid bacteria) yesterday, the store owner suggested that a 1-year-old child could drink it. However, later I read an article in the newspaper that mentioned children under 3 years old should not drink yogurt. But there are also reports indicating that drinking yogurt can help prevent colds, such as the Yitiao brand. Therefore, I would like to ask, is it really suitable for a 1-year-old to drink yogurt?
Answer
It is safe to consume. Most yogurts on the market are drinkable, but it’s still best to limit consumption and not have more than 2-3 times a week, with no more than 2 bottles per time. This is because many yogurt formulas contain unhealthy additives, such as sucralose, which may affect normal eating habits and lead to other adverse effects. Additionally, fermented yogurt might be a better choice.
