Question
What’s going on with a three-month-old baby who is salivating? What should we do? Are there any good solutions? Thank you!
Answer
Hello, salivation in babies is mostly a normal physiological phenomenon. When babies are between 6 and 7 months old, they start teething and introducing solid foods. These foods often stimulate the nerves and salivary glands, causing an increase in saliva production. Since babies have a smaller oral cavity and do not swallow or regulate saliva promptly, the accumulated saliva can easily cause them to drool. As the baby grows and their oral functions improve, this drooling will stop on its own, so generally no treatment is needed.
