Question
My son is 3.5 years old, and sometimes he speaks softly, and often when I ask him questions, he knows the answers but claims he doesn’t. If he makes a mistake and is scolded loudly, he immediately starts to cry. He’s a bit shy and if another child in kindergarten hits him, he doesn’t fight back or tell the teacher. Please help me, what should I do?
Answer
In daily life, you may have done too much for your child, such as putting on shoes, clothes, washing napkins, and picking up toys. When the child wants to do these things themselves, you may not have given enough encouragement, or even stopped them out of concern that they might not do well or get hurt. This overprotection can make the child believe that they can’t do anything well, leading to a loss of confidence and becoming shy, cautious, and constrained. This kind of personality may cause the child to hesitate when doing things and not be outgoing or have an introverted character. The ages 0 to 6 are a crucial period for the formation of a child’s personality, which cannot be overlooked. It is recommended that parents read some books on family education, which will be helpful in educating children. Wishing your child healthy growth!
