Question

How to treat pediatric diarrhea? My child has had abnormal bowel movements for about ten days, with undigested milk and mucus, occurring 6-8 times a day.

Answer

On November 4, 2004 (34 days old), a routine stool examination showed white blood cells (0-2) and red blood cells (0-1). Medications included Mamyai, Simeta, and Lactobacillus tablets. On November 19, 2004, another examination showed red blood cells (0-1). On November 26, 2004, the child developed a fever of 38.1 degrees Celsius and was injected with Betamethasone Sodium Phosphate and Compound Aminophenylbutazone for fever reduction. Intestinal lavage and anti-inflammatory treatment can be considered by January 2005.
