Question

Why do children always cough during the change of seasons?

Answer

Don’t blindly suppress coughing. Coughing is actually a natural protective reflex of the body, which can prevent foreign objects from entering the trachea and bronchial system or prevent the accumulation of bronchial secretions. During illness, coughing and hacking often occur together, hence the term “cough.” It’s generally not necessary to use cough suppressants because when there are secretions (also known as phlegm) in the lower respiratory tract, coughing is the only way to expel them from the body. If cough suppressants are used, they will inhibit the cough reflex, leading to the retention of sputum in the tracheobronchial tract, which can worsen the condition or lead to secondary infection.
