Question

What are the symptoms of adenoid hypertrophy?

Answer

Adenoid hypertrophy is common in children and is caused by pathological hyperplasia due to recurrent inflammation of the adenoids. This hyperplasia leads to nasal congestion and mouth breathing, with symptoms worsening at night, including snoring and restless sleep. Children may frequently toss and turn, with the condition being more pronounced when lying on their back. In severe cases, there may even be temporary breathing pauses. Typically, adenoid hypertrophy coexists with chronic tonsillitis and tonsillar hypertrophy.
