Question
What are the treatment methods for glaucoma?
Answer
Surgical treatment is an effective method for controlling glaucoma, with the aim of better controlling intraocular pressure. In the filtering surgery for open-angle glaucoma, a small piece of the iris is removed to prevent the occurrence of acute glaucoma in the future. Using microsurgical instruments, a small opening is made in the sclera (the white part of the eye), allowing the intraocular fluid to bypass the blocked drainage tube, thereby achieving the therapeutic goal.
