Question

My child is 6 years and 9 months old, suffering from adenoid hypertrophy which has blocked three-quarters of the nasal passage. They had a high fever and coughed frequently, resulting in hospitalization. Doctor, does adenoid hypertrophy cause fever?

Answer

Postoperative fever is primarily due to secondary infection and tissue trauma, prolonged surgery time (>2 hours), extensive tissue damage, intraoperative blood transfusion, drug allergy, liver toxicity caused by anesthetics (halothane or enflurane), and other factors.
