Question

My child is about two weeks old and often spits up during feeding, and also frequently burps after meals. Is this a normal phenomenon?

Answer

Burping in babies after eating is usually due to swallowing too much air, and spitting up may be related to this as well. To reduce air intake, it is recommended to gently pat the baby’s back after feeding to help expel the burp, and ensure they lie down in a relaxed state.
