Question
What to do about adenoid hypertrophy?
Answer
Adenoid hypertrophy is typically caused by incomplete recovery from a cold or cough. Chronic nasal congestion may lead to facial deformation, affect intellectual development, and possibly trigger otitis media. Therefore, it is recommended to undergo surgery as soon as possible or consider ion therapy. For mild symptoms, observation can be made until the child is around 10 years old, as the adenoids may shrink on their own in some cases.
