Question

Is facial appearance a symptom of early adenoid hypertrophy? How is it treated? Can the original appearance be restored after treatment for adenoid hypertrophy?

Answer

The adenoids, also known as the pharyngeal tonsils or palatine tonsils, are lymphoid tissue located at the roof and posterior wall of the nasopharynx, which has the function of enhancing immunity and regional anti-infection. During childhood, they increase in size with age, reaching their maximum extent at around six years old, after which they gradually regress. Adenoid hypertrophy is a pathological hyperplasia caused by repeated inflammatory stimulation of the pharyngeal tonsils and is common in children, often accompanied by chronic tonsillitis. In terms of diet, it is important to consume light foods, eat more vegetables and fruits, and strengthen physical exercise to enhance immunity.
