Question
Can medication for allergic rhinitis and adenoid hypertrophy be taken simultaneously? I have been using herbal medicine for two months, but the effect is not obvious.
Answer
Adenoid hypertrophy is usually caused by a child’s unresolved cold and cough, which may lead to facial deformation and affect intelligence due to prolonged nasal congestion. Severe cases may require surgical treatment. For adenoid hypertrophy, iontophoresis treatment can also be considered. If a child develops the condition after the age of four or five and the severity is not too high, observation and waiting can be considered until the teenage years, as the adenoids may shrink on their own sometimes.
