Question
Can rhinitis, adenoid hypertrophy, and tonsillitis cause a child to sniffle?
Answer
Adenoid hypertrophy is often due to unresolved colds in children, and long-term nasal congestion may lead to facial deformity, affect intelligence, and possibly trigger otitis media. Early surgery or iontophoresis treatment for adenoid hypertrophy should be considered. If the child is four to five years old and the symptoms are not severe, the adenoids can be observed and awaited until around ten years old, when they may naturally shrink.
