Question

How should neonatal hypoxia be handled during the birthing process?

Answer

When a newborn shows cyanosis all over the body after birth and recovers within 1 minute and 40 seconds after rescue measures, it is considered possible to have hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy. Currently, the newborn is able to cry and feed, and the condition is stable. A computerized tomography scan will be conducted a few days later. If confirmed to have hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, early treatment will be more beneficial for the recovery of the condition.
