Question

My baby has a fever of 38 degrees Celsius. What medicine should I give to bring their body temperature back to normal?

Answer

If the baby’s body temperature is below 39 degrees Celsius and they are in good spirits, you can treat them at home with oral fever-reducing medication (Tylenol). You can relieve fever symptoms with children’s paracetamol and chlorpheniramine granules. If the baby’s fever does not subside after taking the medicine, you can give them some warm water to reduce swelling, or use warm water to wipe their body to help lower their temperature. If the baby is not feeling well, they should go to the hospital for intravenous treatment, which works faster through the blood. Feeding the baby plenty of warm water will help in recovery.
