Question
What are the symptoms during the recovery period of baby folliculitis?
Answer
Folliculitis is a condition that arises from an infection of the sweat pores on the skin by Staphylococcus aureus. During the recovery period, patients may notice small, pustular spots on the skin, typically pinpoint-sized. If multiple follicles are infected simultaneously, larger pustules like bean-sized ones may appear on the skin. Folliculitis commonly affects the scalp, face, buttocks, and extremities of the body. The key to preventing folliculitis is maintaining clean and well-ventilated skin. Once infected with folliculitis, you can apply 2% iodine tincture to the affected area three to four times a day. When applying, allow some of the iodine tincture from the cotton swab to remain on the affected area to help the medication penetrate. However, for folliculitis on sensitive areas such as the face, use iodine tincture with caution to avoid causing pigmentation.
