The average course of treatment for facial paralysis with acupuncture is about 20 days. Recovery can be seen within 1 to 2 weeks after the onset of the illness, with approximately 80% of patients recovering to normal within a few weeks to 1 to 2 months. About 1/3 of patients have partial facial paralysis. Acupuncture treatment for facial paralysis is highly effective and is currently the safest and most effective first-choice method for treating such conditions. The duration of treatment depends on factors such as the cause of the illness and individual differences. After treatment, patients should take precautions against wind and cold, and wear masks and eye shields when necessary.
