Question
A four-year-old girl has been experiencing frequent urination for the past three days. Her urine test was normal, and she is in good spirits. She has taken antibiotics, and her doctor recommended daily 15-minute sitz baths, but the results have been unclear. Further advice is sought.
Answer
The frequent urination in the little girl could be caused by various factors, including increased urine volume, inflammatory stimulation, non-inflammatory stimulation, bladder or urinary tract diseases, and neurogenic frequent urination. The normal urine test rules out the possibility of urinary tract infection. To exclude urinary tract factors, such as frequent urination but not much urine each time, without any painful expressions or other symptoms, regional factors can be considered, such as inflammation of the urethral opening or worm irritation. At this point, it is important to clean the external genitalia with warm water and sitz baths can also be helpful. For neurogenic frequent urination, some nerve-regulating medications can be used; this condition usually resolves on its own. Wishing the little girl a healthy growth!
