Question

What’s going on if my child experiences a sudden headache? Additional question: He said he had a headache when he woke up this morning, and then again later in the evening, but it was just a momentary pain.

Answer

There are several possible causes for headaches: ametropia, nervous headaches, hypertension-related headaches, pain from cervical spondylosis, or headaches that occur after a fever. Based on your description, it seems that hypertension-related headaches, cervical spondylosis, and pain due to fever can be ruled out. This leaves ametropia and nervous headaches as possibilities. You can first give your child “Pain Reliever” medication and observe if the headache subsides; if it does, it might be due to a nervous headache. If the pain persists, it should be noted whether it is caused by ametropia. An eye examination to check vision can help clarify the diagnosis.
