Question

What should be noted when babies are swimming?

Answer

Baby swimming training can be divided into four stages: in the first stage, newborns from two to three weeks old can engage in bathtub swimming to maintain their innate floating ability; in the second stage, at around two to three months, babies can perform sliding actions in the water; in the third stage, from three to six months old, they can start learning basic swimming positions; in the fourth stage, from six to one year old, after learning to hold their breath underwater, they can undergo comprehensive swimming training. In addition, when babies are swimming, they should be accompanied by their mother or family members. The ideal water temperature is between 29 to 32 degrees Celsius. Babies should have sufficient dietary nutrition, including adequate protein, fat, and sugar, as well as a rich supply of vitamins. Parents should control the duration and intensity of baby swimming. It is not recommended to be too long; generally, it is suggested to keep swimming time within 15 to 20 minutes, and swim once a week. Overtraining or excessive water-based activities may lead to baby fatigue and even dehydration.
