Question

My one-month-old baby has been vomiting frequently over the past few days, sometimes in a spout-like manner. What could be the cause, and how should I handle it? Thank you for your response!

Answer

Hello, newborn vomiting is usually due to overeating in one sitting and not having all the gas in the stomach released properly. It is recommended to hold the baby upright and gently pat the stomach after feeding to reduce vomiting. Additionally, when the baby lies down, elevate its head or hold it upright. After vomiting, the baby’s face may turn pale, but as long as it returns to normal later on, there is no problem. In this case, you can appropriately supplement the child with fluids.
