Question

My child is X years old and has been suffering from chronic nasal congestion, difficulty breathing while sleeping, mouth breathing, and occasional snoring. The hospital examination says it’s rhinitis. Can a 3-year-old’s rhinitis be treated? How should it be treated, how long does it take to recover, and are there any complications?

Answer

For the treatment of rhinitis, antibiotics are used for acute cases, while chronic rhinitis does not require medication but rather physiotherapy treatment. It is recommended to bring the child to the hospital’s physiotherapy department for treatment. Ultrashortwave diathermy therapy is performed at the Yingxiang acupoints on both sides of the nose. Treatment is administered once a day for 20 minutes each time, with a course lasting 5 days. Generally, 5 to 7 courses of treatment are needed for complete recovery.
