Question

What can be used to treat neonatal sepsis?

Answer

Antibiotics are the key to treating neonatal sepsis. For premature infants, if there are multiple risk factors, specific clinical symptoms, expert advice, and elevated white blood cell counts and CRP, antibiotics should be administered immediately without waiting for the results of bacterial cultures. In addition, supportive treatments include placing the baby in a neutral environmental temperature, preventing cold exposure, providing timely oxygen, correcting acidosis and electrolyte imbalances; in the case of shock, fresh plasma or whole blood can be administered intravenously. For premature infants, intravenous immunoglobulin injection can also be considered.
