Growth hormone is used to treat growth hormone deficiency in children and adults, Turner’s syndrome, growth disorders caused by chronic kidney dysfunction in children, postoperative hypermetabolic state (negative nitrogen balance) after mental trauma, burns, and anemia. The administration and dosage should be determined according to the condition. For dwarfism, 0.6 to 0.8 u/kg should be used weekly through subcutaneous injection. For patients with Turner’s syndrome, 1.0 u/kg or 28 u per square meter of body surface area should be used weekly. For patients with growth disorders caused by chronic kidney dysfunction, 1.0 u/kg or 30 u per square meter of body surface area should be used weekly. Patients with negative nitrogen balance should use 4 to 8 u daily for a continuous period of 7 days, administered through subcutaneous injection. For burn patients, 0.3 to 0.6 u/kg should be used daily for a continuous period of 4 weeks, administered through subcutaneous injection.
