Question

What should you do when milk flows too quickly while feeding a baby, to prevent it from choking?

Answer

Mothers can use their fingers to pinch the nipple to control the flow of milk, and after the baby finishes feeding, gently pat the baby’s back to help them burp. Since the baby’s gastrointestinal system is not fully mature, occasional spitting up is normal. As long as it’s not excessive and there are no other abnormal symptoms, there’s no need to worry too much. When bottle-feeding, make sure the nipple is completely filled with milk to avoid inhaling too much air. After feeding, placing the baby on your shoulder and gently patting their back can help expel the inhaled air.
