Question
Can a five-month-old baby skip the DPT vaccine?
Answer
If the baby has a history of central nervous system disorders such as brain disease or epilepsy, or has an allergic constitution, or is in a fever, acute illness, or acute exacerbation of a chronic disease, vaccination should be postponed. If severe reactions such as shock, high fever, convulsions, or seizures occur after the second or third dose, vaccination should be discontinued. Besides the above contraindications, all other children should receive the DPT vaccine. Precautions during anesthesia:
- Shake well before use. Do not use if there are undissolved clots, foreign objects, cracks in the vial, complete freezing of the vaccine, unclear labels, or expiration.
- After vaccination, regional swelling may occur; cold compresses can be used for relief. When administering the third dose, it should be given in a new location on the opposite side.
