Question

The baby is six and a half months old. She often cries and wakes up during sleep at night, but has a good deep sleep and is in good spirits during the day. There has been no significant change in weight, she usually defecates once every two days, her appetite is normal, she doesn’t eat too much, and she is prone to diarrhea. On the fifth of this month, she had diarrhea, belching, and coughing. After taking medication, she recovered, but since then, the quality of her deep sleep at night has decreased. How can we seek help for the baby’s night crying?

Answer

If the baby cries and wakes up at night, first observe for a few minutes. Many infants will naturally fall back asleep a few minutes after waking up at night. If the crying continues, parents can go over to comfort her a few times, but do not turn on the lights, do not play with the child, do not pick up or shake the child. If the crying worsens, check again after two minutes and consider whether she is hungry, needs to urinate, or has a fever.
