Answer
- All imidazole compounds are effective. For example, albendazole, known as Intestinal Worm Clear, is taken at a dose of 400mg once, with almost 100% cure rate. However, due to the easy recurrence of parasitic infection, a second treatment should be administered 2-4 weeks after the initial treatment.
- Phenylbutazone (trade name Piroxicam), for children the dosage is 5mg per kilogram of body weight, for adults not exceeding 250mg in total dose. Take it once at bedtime (do not chew the tablet). To prevent recurrence, a second dose should be taken 14 days after the initial treatment; it is effective with few side effects, occasional nausea and dry vomiting.
- Thiethylpyridine for adults is 250mg, for children 5mg/kg. Take it once on an empty stomach; it has a significant anthelmintic effect.
