Question

Can baby formula be mixed without following the ratio on the label? Many people say the label’s ratio is too concentrated, so I’ve always used more water than powder. Will this cause malnutrition? How should I mix the formula? My baby is already 8 months old.

Answer

The usual calculation for the daily required amount of baby formula is based on the volume of full milk. When one serving of formula is mixed with water to reach four times its volume, it is equivalent to full milk. If the dilution ratio does not follow this concentration, it may be difficult to control the daily feeding amount. If more complementary foods have already been provided, the concentration of the formula can be appropriately reduced. These are my suggestions for the question “Can baby formula be mixed at a different ratio than the label suggests?” I hope this helps, and wish you health!
