Question

How should pediatric epilepsy be treated effectively?

Answer

Children are a special age group with rapidly developing bodies and brains. In addition to treating epilepsy, special attention must be given to safeguarding the intellectual development of children. Choose medications that have minimal side effects on the brain, and avoid using drugs with significant side effects such as phenytoin sodium, valproate sodium, and carbamazepine. It is generally not recommended to use multiple western medications simultaneously; usually, one medication is sufficient, with no more than two at most.
