Question

My baby is three and a half months old and has been experiencing diarrhea after a fever, occurring multiple times a day, with two small pieces of flesh sticking out of the anus. We have previously seen a doctor and taken medication, but the symptoms have not improved. What treatment methods can we try? Should we stop breastfeeding if we continue to do so?

Answer

In this situation, since the baby is still very young, it is best to avoid using medication for treatment unless the diarrhea is severe (such as more than 10-20 times a day). It is suggested to try giving the baby congee soup, which has been effective for my own baby. The method is to fry the rice slightly golden, add water to cook into soup, then filter and give to the baby to drink. After three days of continuous use, you should see an improvement in the condition. Remember to fry a small amount of rice each day to keep it fresh and pay attention to the baby’s fluid intake.
