Question

What’s going on if a three-month-old baby starts crying and being restless at over 7 PM?

Answer

If a baby has abdominal pain, especially in the afternoon and evening, and is able to nap normally after crying, and does not cry at night, this may be normal. However, if abdominal pain is accompanied by other symptoms such as frequent vomiting, lack of energy, not eating, a hard and shiny abdomen, visible small blood vessels (known as varicosities), palpable lumps; or if it is accompanied by jaundice, passing white or bloody stools, tarry stools, fever, or other ‘five no’ symptoms, this may be indicative of illness. Severe abdominal pain could be a sign of a serious condition and should prompt immediate medical attention.
