Question
Can newborns have an ultrasound on their eyes?
Answer
Ultrasound examinations use X-ray beams to scan the thickness of a specific layer of the body and convert the X-rays passing through that layer into ultraviolet light. This light is then converted into electrical signals by a phototransducer, which are further converted into digital signals by an analog/digital converter. The computer reads and processes these digital signals. In the diagnosis of head and neck diseases, CT scans also have high value and are recommended for confirming the condition and avoiding delays in treatment.
