Question
How is pediatric epilepsy caused?
Answer
Pediatric epilepsy can be caused by a variety of factors, including congenital malformations such as chromosomal abnormalities and congenital hydrocephalus. Additionally, diseases during the prenatal and perinatal periods, such as birth injuries, may lead to symptomatic epilepsy in infancy. Post-seizure symptoms following high fever convulsions are also one of the causes of epilepsy. Severe and persistent high fever convulsions can lead to neuronal damage and gliosis, which may trigger epilepsy.
