Question

My newborn’s stool is abnormal. What should I do? The baby is 14 days old, and when I changed her diaper today, I noticed that she passed several farts in a row. I held her and helped her defecate, and upon close observation, I found that the stool was yellow with a lot of water, and some of it looked like egg white. She didn’t cry or fuss during the process, and she fed well, just taking a bit longer. We are breastfeeding and rarely use formula. What’s going on? Do I need to see a doctor? Past treatment and effects: none.

Answer

This situation is usually caused by dyspepsia. As long as the baby is in good spirits, there’s generally no need to worry excessively. It is recommended to supplement calcium in moderation and consider using multi-enzyme tablets, lactase, or Wang’s Baohu Wan to aid digestion and absorption.
