Question

My baby has recently been showing a lack of appetite and waking up multiple times during the night. They don’t like to eat anything. They had a fever but have now recovered, and this has been going on for about four or five days. How can I help them eat dinner?

Answer

Generally, starting from four months old, in addition to breast milk or formula, babies should gradually be introduced to foods like vegetable puree, apple puree, and banana puree. By the time babies are four months old, the iron, calcium, and other nutrients stored in their bodies are mostly depleted, and breast milk or formula alone can no longer meet their growth and development needs. Therefore, it is necessary to provide foods rich in iron, calcium, and vitamins. By ten months old, babies can completely wean off breast milk, and their diet should gradually shift to three meals a day (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), from thin porridge to thick porridge and soft rice, from meat puree to minced meat, and from vegetable puree to chopped vegetables.
