Question
My baby has been suffering from repeated diarrhea. He had diarrhea three days ago and after medication proved ineffective, we administered intravenous treatment, which seemed to help. However, he experienced diarrhea again yesterday, 11 times in total. After being taken to the hospital, the doctor prescribed medication, which also failed to work. Today, he has had diarrhea 7 or 8 times again. What could be the cause?
Answer
I’m glad to address your question. It could be due to an infection causing autumnal diarrhea. Firstly, it’s important to seek medical attention immediately for a thorough examination after falling ill. But if your baby is in good spirits, able to eat and drink, and shows no signs of dehydration, there’s no immediate need to go to the hospital. If your baby exhibits any abnormal symptoms like thirst, high fever, or blood in the stool, you should seek medical attention promptly. When your baby has diarrhea, parents should ensure that the baby’s abdomen is kept warm to prevent further exacerbation of the condition and to avoid repeated episodes of diarrhea. During this period, it’s advisable to limit the intake of food and fluids.
