Question
How to treat pediatric hydrocele?
Answer
Pediatric hydrocele, known as water hernia in traditional Chinese medicine, presents with clinical symptoms such as one or both sides of the scrotum swelling like crystal, without redness or heat, with the testicles downward and the lower abdomen upward, accompanied by itching, discharge, or cold-damp pathogenic factors. Long-term retention of dampness can lead to heat, which may manifest as red and swollen scrotum, short and dark urine, and other symptoms. This condition is often due to the failure of the liver meridian to disperse properly, compounded by exposure to cold and dampness or damp-heat stagnation. Recipe 1 [Ingredients] 10-15 grams of five-astringent barks, 10-15 grams of calcined lime. [Usage] Grind the above ingredients into coarse powder, add 300-400 milliliters of clear water, boil and strain the liquid. Pour the liquid into a bowl, wait until it’s slightly warm, and immerse the entire scrotum in the medicine liquid for 20-30 minutes each time. Use once a day, immerse 2-3 times a day. Reheat the medicine liquid before use and clean the external genitalia with warm water before applying the medicine. [Effect] Soothes swelling. Suitable for primary and secondary hydrocele of the testicle, spermatic cord hydrocele, and communicating hydrocele. Recipe 2 [Ingredients] 30 grams of lonicera japonica, 30 grams of cicada sloughs, 15 grams of perilla leaves. [Usage] Add water to the above ingredients and decoct twice, strain the liquid, and mix the two juices into a bowl
