Question
My baby is two months old and has diarrhea. After seeing a doctor, the doctor suggested providing rice porridge. Can babies eat rice porridge?
Answer
Generally speaking, babies can start introducing complementary foods between four to six months old. When introducing for the first time, it’s best to start with small amounts, once a day, and observe the baby’s stool to ensure it’s normal. If everything is fine, you can continue to provide it. Complementary foods for babies are usually introduced from around four months old, starting with egg yolks and gradually increasing the amount. If the baby does not have any digestive problems or allergic reactions, you can then proceed to offer rice noodles and vegetable juices, as well as the rice oil from rice porridge.
