Question

We have a 14-day-old baby who falls asleep quickly after breastfeeding but wakes up shortly after. What could be the reason for this, and how should we handle and prevent it?

Answer

Some babies may fall asleep quickly while breastfeeding due to tiredness, which might lead to the habit of not sleeping unless they are being breastfed. If the baby continues to suck on the nipple after being full, it’s important to let them stop. The mother should rest more, maintain deep sleep, and consume more meat, bread, and soup to increase milk supply. When the baby is not breastfeeding, do not let them keep holding the nipple. Additionally, if the baby softly cries, it may be that they are practicing their lung capacity rather than truly being hungry.
