Question

The 5-month-old baby is experiencing severe vomiting, especially when changing diapers. The tongue curls, and there are many bubble-like sputum in the mouth. Is this reaction related to vomiting? Is there a problem with the baby’s tongue?

Answer

Vomiting is often caused by infection and requires a urine test to determine if it is a bacterial, viral, or mycoplasma infection, and to prescribe symptomatic anti-inflammatory medication accordingly. If the baby is listless, consider other conditions such as myocarditis or appendicitis. Probiotics can be taken to adjust the intestinal flora. In case of severe vomiting, the baby should be hospitalized for intravenous injection of antiemetics, and attention should be paid to signs of dehydration. If dehydration is present, immediate intravenous fluid replacement treatment should be sought. For diet, opt for light, soft, and easily digestible foods.
