Question

My baby is 45 days old and still has some jaundice. What should I do? The baby started showing jaundice around 18 days old, and initially, I didn’t pay much attention. At one month, a hospital examination revealed that the jaundice levels were high, and it was recommended to be hospitalized. During the hospital stay, all tests were normal, but bilirubin levels were elevated. The baby was discharged on April 5th after one week of hospitalization, with normal skin color at the time of discharge. However, the jaundice recurred two days later. How can I help my baby? Is it possible for jaundice to recur after treatment? What might be the reasons for this recurrence?

Answer

Jaundice is typically categorized as either physiological or pathological. Based on the description, it may be caused by pathological reasons such as liver or bile duct diseases. Please note if there is a history of liver disease in the family members, as well as any other abnormal symptoms the baby may be experiencing. These suggestions may be helpful to you. Wishing you health.
