Question
After feeding, the baby feels like there’s a foreign object in the throat and cries sharply.
Answer
I’m not sure how old the baby is, but if it’s a newborn, this condition could be due to one of two reasons: either a respiratory infection with phlegm, or congenital laryngospasm, caused by insufficient calcium during the mother’s pregnancy, leading to poor development of the baby’s laryngeal cartilage. 1. To confirm whether it’s a respiratory infection or laryngospasm, a doctor’s auscultation is needed, and chest X-ray examination may be necessary if required. 2. If it’s bronchitis, symptomatic anti-inflammatory and expectorant medication can be administered. 3. If it’s laryngospasm, this issue is not serious; most children recover before the age of two, and taking a moderate amount of calcium supplements is beneficial for recovery. Wishing the baby a healthy growth!
