Question

My son had a fever the night before last, and the pediatric medication didn’t work. A third of the ibuprofen dosage didn’t reduce the fever, so I gave him the full dose, which only temporarily brought down the fever. Soon after, he had a fever again. What should I do?

Answer

When a child’s body temperature is below 38.5 degrees Celsius, you can help cool them down by using a warm towel to wipe their armpits, groins, and other major artery areas every 10 minutes. If the body temperature exceeds 38.5 degrees Celsius, you can take the recommended amount of children’s fever-reducing medicine, such as Children’s Advil. It is advised to take your child to the hospital for blood tests, C-reactive protein, and mycoplasma checks as soon as possible to determine the cause of the fever. Treat the fever according to the test results.
