Question

My baby’s eyes were a bit red at birth, and sometimes the color fades, but as soon as they cry or strain, the area becomes redder. The doctor said it’s nothing to worry about, but I found online that it might be an angioma. I’m not sure how serious this issue is and I’m quite worried. Thank you.

Answer

Hello, based on the photo you provided, it appears to be a tiny angioma, characterized by a patch of bright redness on the skin. An angioma is a vascular malformation caused by excessive or abnormal growth of blood vessels. In most cases, it resolves on its own as the baby grows. If it does not disappear, laser treatment can be used.
