Question
My daughter is three years old, and she has been running a fever for over half a month. She has been diagnosed with an EBV infection and is currently receiving inpatient treatment. However, she still occasionally has a fever, along with mood instability and crying. What should I do?
Answer
EBV is a unique virus that primarily targets lymphocytes. Infectious mononucleosis is an acute lymphadenopathy disease that typically develops after the first infection with EBV during adolescence. Typical symptoms include fever, sore throat, and enlarged lymph nodes in the neck. As the condition progresses, the virus may spread to other lymphatic tissues. Liver and spleen enlargement, liver function abnormalities, and an increase in monocytes and atypical lymphocytes in peripheral blood may occur.
